About the Mural


Originally created in 2005, the Ocala Black History Mural located on Silver Springs Blvd. (State Road 40) was initially inspired by a Summer Camp Program at the Hampton Campus of the Central Florida Community College and facilitated by the staff and artists of the Brick City Center for the arts. This program was aimed at community youth and used the inspiration of the art of Jacob Lawrence. The Mural was restored as part of the 2019 Levitt Amp Ocala Concert Series.

Originalmente creado en 2005, el Ocala Black History Mural ubicado en Silver Springs Blvd. (State Road 40) se inspiró inicialmente en un programa de campamento de verano en el campus de Hampton de Florida Central Community College y fue facilitado por el personal y los artistas del Centro de Artes de Brick City. Este programa estaba dirigido a jóvenes de la comunidad y utilizó la inspiración del arte de Jacob Lawrence. El mural fue restaurado como parte de la serie de conciertos Levitt Amp Ocala 2019.
